Fall Has Finally Fallen On Our Farm...

I'm enjoying the feeling of Fall.

And its beauty...it looks like we                 are going to have a nice long one as well.

I always did love the changing seasons;)

Here's What Is Cookin'...

For those of you who are connected with me on Facebook, you see my random pictures of food...

Here's a sample. Now for the rest of the story. Often I am trying to cook something exotic with just simple cheap ingredients.  So this time instead of a picture, I decided to show some of the steps.

Here is what I am cooking today.

This is a variation of an apple turnover...these came about because I was making these...

Meat and Tator Pasties!

But then I ran out of filling so I remembered the frozen apple slices in the freezer...and now I'm getting ahead of myself.
First things first...

You need a yummy dough...
4 cups of flour
1&1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups shredded cheese
Mix together then add...
3 sticks of softened butter
Mix until crumbly and combined then add...
16oz of sour cream.

Knead together to form dough adding a little flour to keep from getting too sticky.
Then roll out the dough and cut into rounds or whatever shape you want your pasties to have.

Now let's talk about filling...really whatever you want to try...warning...having your fruit frozen first helps it to soften faster in the oven.

...oops...not like this

...but like this:)

I then added a little spice.
cinnamon
nutmeg
fresh lemon zest
fresh grated ginger
a couple of dollops of yogurt...all I had was flavored, but my favorite would be natural vanilla.
Now you're ready to build each one...

Pop them into the oven on an ungreased sheet at 400* for 20 to 25 minutes or till golden brown.
Cool on a wire rack...enjoy!

Try not to think about all that butter and cheese....I'm not on a diet, not on a diet, NOT ON A DIET!!!

I'm not Ree Drumond, but I hope you've gotten the point.

When The Sun Is Going Down...

There's this moment. A slowing of the buzz of the day.  Almost a sense of drowsiness takes over...

Everything seems aware of it...at least out here in the arms of nature...

...especially if we human kind pause and acknowledge it along with the birds, coyotes, horses, cicadas, grasses, and winds...that the day is done, the earth is calming and there is a peaceful pause before the darkness closes in.

When I lived in the bright lights of the city, this hovering of time went almost completely unnoticed...the lights come on and the masses rush by...but out here,  when the sun is going down it is a glorious thing. It is often pure delight!

My Canvas...

For those of you who didn't get to see these on Facebook, I thought I'd post here as well.

I like to paint the landscape with flowers... If time and money weren't an issue and my back was strong, I'd live in a world of plants, flowers, and beauty.

But instead,  I brighten one corner at a time.  I'm so thankful to not be moving again and I can actually establish a bed for a change.

The fun part is that this is just the beginning.  I have some big dreams...one day!

Until then,  I'll just keep working on and enjoying the cheerful corner I have right now.

Ever Wonder???

Ever wonder what it'll be like the moment between the dead rising first and then those who remain being caught up into the clouds?

I picture it to look like this...like there is something more to be experienced just beyond that cloud.

It's like catching a glimpse of a world beyond.

I know it is just vapors and the star we orbit.   Atmosphere and science...and all that jargon.

But to me it serves as a reminder of the beauty of creation and the glory of the Creator.

What My World Consists Of...

Since I have such random pics on my camera roll, I've decided to give you a sampling.

...food,

friends, and...

flowers!

Then there is...

beauty,

boys, and...

the Buffalo!

There is a whole lot more, but I said a sampling of my world.
I suppose there really isn't a moment that is too dull.
Until next time...

A Face Only A Mother Could Love!!!

I know I'm not the most handsome dude on the block, but you can ask my mom and she'll tell you, I'm loyal to the core and faithful to the end....

Growing Up and Growing Old...

Well, he finally graduated...

...Shallen,that is.   It was great to see him graduate with high honors and receive his partial scholarship to the U of A!

It was also great to have some of my family here at different times to help us celebrate.  It's hard to believe I'm old enough to have a college age kid.  I wish you the best, Shal!!!!

Help!!!!! I'm so far behind!!!!

I said when I got my new phone that I would blog more.  Well, it's been two months and I still haven't done it. I think that I'm just undisciplined, pure and simple!!!!  So here goes....

There have been many random Selfies taken by a myriad of Selfs!!!!

Strange, these Selfies, or maybe it's the Selfs taking the picture.  Anyway, as you can see, we are alive and well.

More updates to come!!!

Her Point of View

I never cease to be amazed...

at my daughter's way of viewing things.

I mean, she has never had a photography lesson in her life...

yet, her angle, or view of things is so different from how I naturally view things.

Things, Creatures, Scenes...I view them everyday, enjoy them, and move on,

but when she stops time with a still frame, it suddenly becomes art...

and natural ability to make the ordinary something more.

There's humor...

hunger...

quirky...

...but to capture this Titmouse, whom I've see hundreds of times, with this seed so perfectly poised in its mouth,  to me that's just amazing.

Looking forward to more beauty and fun, Kyri!

Spider Lamp!!! Huh?

A long time ago...

...back when Shawn and I used to look like this.  I worked for a very special lady named...

Glenna Haney.  She was like my mom away from home.  She often had me dust a monstrous lamp.  She grumbled about it's out of controlled limbs, etc.  All this to say, this year I had floor lamps on my Christmas list.   You guessed it,  Shawn instructed me to close my eyes and this is what I opened them to...

...a spider lamp!!! ARRRRRR.....  No, it's staying, Shawn loves it and I will adjust, I promise.  Though I might be like Mrs. Haney and grumble about it's unwieldy limbs!

Happy New Year!!!
