What? A Trebuchet?

Shallen and his friend Cedar had free rein in the barn on Saturday...

...with permission, of course!

Needless to say, it was pretty awesome when they got it done.
Later Kelton tweaked it and got it to fire a rock about 90 ft. into the field.
I guess we're now ready for invasion:D

What Do You Do For Fun?

Kids learn from their Father...

This was one of his fun things growing up and has now passed the challenge on to Kelton.
"Mom, tie me up and see if I can get out."
I failed, He escaped. I'll have to practice my knots, eh?

Ice cream for your soul?

Is ice cream good for your soul?

Kelton at 6 years old

Last week, I took my children to a restaurant. My six-year-old son asked if he could say grace. As we bowed our heads he said,

“God is good, God is great.
Thank you for the food, and I would even thank you more if Mom gets us
ice cream for dessert. And Liberty and justice for all! Amen!”

Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby, I heard a woman remark, “That's what's wrong with this country. Kids today don't even know how to pray. Asking God for ice cream! Why, I never!”

Hearing this, my son burst into tears and asked me,
“Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?”

As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job, and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman approached the table. He winked at my son and said,

“I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer.”
“Really?” my son asked.
“Cross my heart,” the man replied.
Then, in a theatrical whisper, he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), “Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes.”

Naturally, I bought my kids ice cream at the end of the meal.

My son stared at his for a moment, and then did something I will remember the rest of my life. He picked up his sundae and, without a word, walked over and placed it in front of the woman. With a big smile he told her, “Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes; and my soul is good already.”

P.s Kelton didnt really say this, but it sure is a cute story!

Scheme Gone Ary

Shawn wanted me to update with the latest horrible news! His efforts to plant the greenhouse door post, caused a broken water line to our neighbors. Normally that would be real bad for anyone, except these neighbors already are touchy because we share the same well and if we run our water hose they don't get any pressure. Shawn was scrambling to get it repaired before they got home. He made it just barely. Oh, the scrapes we get ourselves in. So the saga continues...

Here's Another "Shawn Scheme"!

Is it only my husband who gets these wild scheme's?

Here are the funny-looking bones of a small greenhouse, beside our chicken house.

It never ceases to amaze me how many irons he can put in his fire.
Of course, I won't complain when I am enjoying the fresh lettuce and other produce.
Well, I might complain about the weeding...
I'll try to update you on the progress later, k?
